The unseasonal rains currently being witnessed in Goa have caused some level of discomfort to the State's farming community which is in the process of wrapping up the harvesting operations.
The rains have posed difficulties for the farmers in carrying out trashing, winnowing and related harvest activities. In some cases it could lead to delays or even additional labour and other costs if the harvested paddy has got soaked, an agriculture officer said.
However, many farmers have completed most of their harvest operations and damage on account of the current sudden showers is expected to be minimal, the officer added.
