Police conduct drug raid at Chapora restaurant

PANAJI

The Anjuna Police on Friday raided a tourist-frequented restaurant styled as ‘House of Chapora’, located at Chapora jetty, for allegedly running narcotics trade.

The crackdown was in continuation to the arrest of two peddlers from Anjuna, who during the interrogation confessed to the lethal activities in the restaurant.

“During the custodial interrogation, Suraj Todi (Bangalore) and Kalidas alias Kali Naik (Anjuna) confessed that drug activities are rampant in the House of Chapora restaurant. Accordingly, we obtained a search warrant, formed a team of Scientific Assistant, Dog Squad and staff of Anjuna Police Station to subsequently raid the premises at 4 pm. Many incriminating materials were seized during the raid, all of which are sent for forensic examination,” SDPO Jivba Dalvi informed.

If the forensic reports ascertain narcotics, Dalvi stated, the owner and manager of the restaurant will be liable for action.
