Police intensify Statewide tenant verification drive

In the ongoing verification and combing drive carried out across Goa on Wednesday, the Goa police verified 1,572 tenants and servants on a single day as part of an intensified push to boost public safety in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pulwama.

The targeted operation, which covered both urban and rural areas of North and South Goa, also involved the verification of 48 persons and the rounding up/ arrest of 272 persons. Police teams inspected 119 hotels and guest houses, filled five C-forms, and verified 62 foreigners and 39 Kashmiris.

According to a statement issued by Goa police, the coordinated effort is aimed at enhancing surveillance, detect suspicious activity and ensure strict compliance in rented and transient accommodations.

In North Goa, police verified 1,141 tenants and servants and checked 34 strangers. A total of 183 people were rounded up. Police also inspected 91 hotels and guest houses, filled five C-forms, and checked the documents of 22 foreigners and 29 Kashmiris.

Simultaneously, South police teams conducted door-to-door and on-the-spot verifications, confirming the identities of 417 tenants and 14 servants. Police also verified 14 strangers, rounded up 85 people, and made four arrests. Checks were carried out at 28 hotels and guest houses, while 40 foreigners and 10 Kashmiris were screened.
