The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has issued a stop-work notice to M/s Worldwide Resorts and Entertainment Private Limited for allegedly carrying out construction without the required permissions.

On Tuesday, the Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (Goa-SEIAA) issued a similar order after discovering that the construction was happening without prior environmental clearance (EC). The EC application is still pending with SEIAA.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Deputy Town Planner Prakash Bandodkar explained that technical clearance for the proposed hotel construction on plot No. 358 in Bambolim village was granted on 26 March 2024. However, it was conditional on obtaining any necessary no-objection certificates (NOCs) from relevant authorities under the building by-laws before starting work.

“It has been observed that you (the company) began construction without obtaining the required EC as per the EIA Notification 2006, which violates the conditions outlined in the Technical Clearance,” Bandodkar said.

Following government instructions, Bandodkar has directed the company to immediately halt all construction activities due to non-compliance. On Wednesday, the RGP leaders also met with the Director of Panchayats, requesting that the local panchayat revoke the permissions granted for the project.
