He told the media that he would request Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar, who also holds the Home portfolio, to carve out a separate police station for Fatorda to reign in on the burglars and trouble   makers in his constituency.
“I want the government to set up a police station at the Margao police headquarters till a new space is made available by the government. A separate police station for Fatorda has been long overdue in the interest of the citizens of the constituency,” the minister said.
He pointed out that the safety and security of the citizens of Fatorda constituency is of paramount  importance, adding that the police has been given a
free hand to reign in on the burglars and other anti-social elements.
Incidentally, the police department had around two years ago mooted a separate police station for
Fatorda along with two other police stations in Salcete. The proposal, however, has been lying in cold storage since then, sources said.
