Police visit Mickky’s residence over alleged threat

MARGAO
Police descended at the Betalbatim residence of former Minister Mickky Pacheco on Sunday evening following his alleged statement that he would attack Subhash Velingkar if the police failed to arrest him for remarks made about St Francis Xavier.

Pacheco, who was not home at the time, condemned the police action, questioning whether they had sought approval from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before arriving at his residence.

“I was informed the police wanted to detain me under preventive custody for my statement in Margao, demanding action against Velingkar. How can the police register an offence under preventive detention without the Chief Minister’s approval to arrest a former minister?” Pacheco asked.
