Hazard a guess over the status of investigations into the illegal sand dune cutting case reported at Pedda-Varca on August 22 of this year?
Pose the question to the Colva Police station in-charge, Police Inspector Theron D’Costa and apt comes a reply that they are still awaiting a complaint from the flying squad or the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) in connection with the sand dune case.
In fact, the station in-charge has informed that the police might be in receipt of complaints from individuals and other bodies, but what the men-in-uniform are looking forward to is a complaint from the technical body such as the GCZMA or the flying squad to kick start the criminal investigations into the incident.
“This is an issue involving technical aspects. Complaints from individual and other bodies are immaterial. We need a complaint from a competent authority to kick start the investigations,” PI Theron stated.
Around 20 days have passed since the illegal sand dune cutting incident had come to light on August 22 last, raising an uproar in the village.
