Claiming that politicians in Goa were the real mafia while taxi operators in the State were just victims of the system, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal admitted that his government in Delhi was formed only because of the support of autorickshaw and taxi operators in Delhi.Addressing a large number of taxi operators in Vasco on Wednesday, Kejriwal said some Goan taxi operators had visited Delhi and had seen the development and had even interacted with taxi operators and him in Delhi.
“It is sad that Goan politicians term taxi operators as mafia and policies are made without taking them into confidence. It was the same situation in Delhi some years ago before AAP came to power and rickshaw operators were termed as Mafia.”
“I took up their struggles and stood in their fight and they canvassed for me. In return, they brought us to power in Delhi and they deserve 70 per cent of credit for forming the AAP government in Delhi," said Kejriwal.
Kejriwal claimed the politicians were the real mafia while taxi operators were just victims of the system.
"Today, a taxi operator has to pay the police, traffic police, transport department officials and if he does not overcharge, he may not be able to survive and nothing will change if the entire system is not changed.”
“We changed the system in Delhi and made it faceless and even increased their tariff and today, the system has changed. We have also issued a helpline for taxi operators and even waived off the fitness charges. We even paid Rs 5,000 to every taxi operator in Delhi during the first and second Covid wave," said Kejriwal.
