Poll code violations: Authorities to tighten checks on six border check posts in State

PORVORIM
North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal has said authorities will tighten checks along the border check posts of the State, to detect any illegal activities as part of efforts to enforce the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, SP Kaushal said the police in coordination with the revenue department had detailed discussions with collectors and senior police officers of Sindhudurg and Belagavi districts to develop a plan to detect any illegal activities on the six border check posts of Goa.

“Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) have also been formed and deployed in Goa. They are keeping watch on illegal activities within Goa with the help of CCTV cameras. If any election code violation is noticed, they will report it to the police station concerned.”

“Police have also identified criminals who can create nuisance during election and strict vigil is maintained on their activities. So far, only one code of violation case has been reported at Mandrem police station and an FIR has been lodged,” said Kaushal.
