Ponda vendors ready to pay sopo in instalments

A section of vendors from Ponda have agreed to pay their sopo tax, but they have told the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) that they would want to pay their dues in three instalments.



The vendors on Thursday afternoon met Ponda MLA Ravi Naik to discuss the issue and he summoned PMC Chief Officer Navnath Naik to his office to resolve the issue.  
During the meeting, the group vendors agreed to pay the sopo tax at the rate of Rs 10 per sq mt.  
Confirming this, Kishore Mamlekar, president of Ponda Vyapari Sanghatana, said they had met the local MLA in the matter.  “We told the chief officer that we would pay the dues in three instalments and he has assured us to place our demand before the council,” said Mamlekar.  TGN

Illegal opening at Dabolim road divider to be sealed

Panchayats Minister and local MLA Mauvin Godinho on Thursday informed that the illegal opening of the road divider at Valles junction in Dabolim would be sealed within 8-10 days, to prevent the growing number of mishaps at the area.
