Poriem man arrested in hit, run mishap at Mayem

A man from Rawan in Poriem-Sattari was arrested on Wednesday in a hit and run road mishap near the Fun Club in Mayem.

According to Bicholim police, the mishap took place at about 12.45 pm on January 11, when Kishor Sakhalkar of Chimulwada-Mayem was proceeding from Chimulwada Mayem to Honda in his scooter.

As he reached Adinath Math near the Fun Club at Mayem, an oncoming car struck the scooter, causing injuries to the rider, and fled from the site.

Bicholim police registered an offence under Sections 281,125,125(b) BNS 2023 and 134(a)(b) of motor vehicle Act 1984.

During investigation, a police team led by PSI Amarnath Palni visited the accident spot and through CCTV footage from Mayem, obtained the vehicle number and details of the car.

Police later detained Vishnu Shetkar of Rawan-Poriem at Khorlim-Mapusa. He was brought to the Bicholim police station and arrested on Wednesday.

Bicholim PSI Amarnath Palni is conducting further investigation under the supervision of Bicholim PI Vijay Rane Sardesai, and overall supervision of Bicholim SDPO Shridevi B.V. IPS and North Goa SP Harishchandra Madkaikar.
