VASCO
Vasco city will soon have a new star attraction site and will host a replica of the defense destroyer ship INS Mormugao along the road near St Joseph school as part of the ambitious beautification plans.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, along with Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker and Naval officials, conducted a joint inspection of the site that will soon have the replica of the Naval INS Mormugao destroyer ship.
Speaking to the media, Salkar said that it all began during his recent visit to meet the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area (FOGA) on a courtesy call.
“I told him that in case they have some old ships or aeroplanes, they can place it in some strategic points in the city. He then told me that they wanted to install a replica of INS Mormugao somewhere far away, and I then said that since the ship has the name of Mormugao in it, the replica of the ship should be placed in the Mormugao Taluka, and the best place for it could be in Vasco,” said Salkar.
