The main accused and two others were nabbed in a joint police operation at New Delhi in connection with the ATM theft case in Porvorim and cash of Rs 3.5 lakh has been recovered from them.
Incidentally, the main accused, Rustam Suhag, was attempting to flee from the site and police fired on his leg. Two other persons, Safikul Mulla and Mohammed Safi have also been nabbed by police.
It is learnt that the Goa’s Crime Branch and North District Police along with the Special Cell of Delhi police involved in this operation.
A gang had stolen an ATM machine of Union Bank (formerly Corporation Bank) located near Socorro Church in the wee hours of Sunday and had fled with about Rs 19 lakh in cash, after abandoning the machine in some bushes around 500 metres from the bank.
