PORVORIM
Days after rejecting the candidature of Vikas Prabhudessai and demanding a change in candidate for Porvorim constituency, the Porvorim Block Congress on Tuesday took a U-turn and decided to support Prabhudessai.
Addressing a news conference at Porvorim, the Porvorim Block Congress President Mario Ataide said the Congress party is like a home which remains intact if all members remain loyal and united.
“Rebellious attitude destroys the home. Though we felt that the candidature of Vikas Prabhudessai selected by the party was not proper, we have decided to support Prabhudessai in the overall interest of party and participate in his election campaign.”
“Prabhudessai does not have any criminal background and is a non-corrupt person. If elected, he will work for the development of Porvorim constituency,” said Ataide.
Colonel Noel Goodwin (retd) said the party had surveyed the constituency and after interacting with Congress party workers, had selected Prabhudessai as the ideal candidate for Porvorim constituency. Members of Porvorim Block Congress committee must respect the decision of the party,” said Goodwin.
When asked about their development plan for Porvorim constituency, Ataide said their manifesto for Porvorim and Goa would be released soon.
“We do not want to disclose our development plans for Porvorim constituency right now as other parties will come to know about them,” said Ataide.
