PORVORIM
Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has said residents in Porvorim constituency would get a gas pipeline by the year-end, making Porvorim the third constituency in the State to get the facility.
Addressing a gathering at the Socorro Panchayat on Wednesday to felicitate media persons, sports persons and meritorious students, Khaunte said he has focussed on all-round development of Porvorim constituency.
“Work on the 20-MLD water storage tank near police housing colony at Porvorim is completed and work on a 15-MLD water treatment plant will begin soon. The work order to lay an underground electricity cable has been issued,”
said Khaunte.
“In the first phase, the underground cable will be laid on the Porvorim Plateau and in the second phase, the village areas will be covered,” the minister said.
He said work on the first phase of the sewage treatment plant has been completed and the second phase will be undertaken in September. The garden near Delfino Mart on the Panaji“Mapusa highway would be renovated with the support of the tourism department, he added.
“People are aware of their rights but forget their duties and responsibilities. If citizens perform their duties properly and participate in the development activities and support me, Porvorim will soon become an ideal constituency,” said Khaunte.
On the occasion, Khaunte launched the online house tax payment service with the help of HDFC bank, which will benefit residents of Socorro, Penha-de-Franca and Salvador-do-Mundo.
Earlier, Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarker welcomed the gathering, while Shital Arolkar and Deepali Satardekar also spoke at
the event.
