The post mortem report submitted by the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim on Thursday was inconclusive on the cause of death. However, fatal injuries have been ruled out by experts and the viscera has been preserved along with other materials for qualitative and chemical analysis.
Speaking to The Goan, Calangute Police inspector Jivba Dalvi stated, “The post mortem does not state the exact cause of death, but it rules out fatal injuries. The viscera has been preserved and will be forwarded to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad for further analysis in order to ascertain the cause of death.”
The post mortem report also revealed that the deceased was in the first trimester of her pregnancy.
The Mapusa Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandrakanth Shetkar, who is conducting a probe into the death, will send the preserved materials to CFSL, Hyderabad. The SDM probe under Section 176 CrPC. into the suspicious death of the woman is warranted since the woman, a native of Nepal and resident of Candolim, died within seven years of her marriage.
The deceased was married to a Goan, Vinci D’Souza, in 2011 and since the death was within seven years of marriage, the SDM Chandrakant Shetkar will conduct
an inquiry
Following a request from the police, Shetkar has initiated an inquiry and has summoned the parents and relatives of the deceased woman.
Police sources said that the woman was a chronic alcoholic and had even undergone a six-month course on detoxification in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been handed over to the relatives of the deceased who have arrived from Nepal to conduct the last rites.
