The triennial Gadyachi Zatra was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at the Betal temple in Welwadda-Poinguinim, after missing out on the previous celebrations in 2014.

Hundreds took part in the Gadyachi Zatra as four persons  were tied to two 45-foot high wooden poles as part of the unique and  rich traditional practice as Ghade.
The rituals were then performed amidst hundreds of enthusiasts.
According to customs, four men known as Gade, are attired  in a white dhoti and take part in a ceremony with other devotees. A huge  platform is elevated atop two huge logs in front of the Betal temple  and the four Gade are suspended by hooks to a wheel.
The rituals began on May 3 and the main event took place on Saturday. The festival will continue till May 23.
The triennial Zatra could not be held three years ago, as the temple’s main pujari took ill and was hospitalized.
