Pernem police have arrested the branch postmaster in connection with a fraud of Rs 8.37 lakh at the Morjim post office.
The accused, Chandrakant Bhagve, is a resident of Sawantwadi-Maharashtra.
According to Pernem police, the accused had allegedly not deposited the money invested by citizens in various accounts between August 1, 2021 and February 7, 2023. The amount is said to be Rs 8,37,050.
The Mapusa post inspector had complained about this in the Pernem police station on August 4. The Pernem police then arrested the Bhagve under Sections 409, 420 of IPC.
Pernem Police Inspector Sachin Lokre, PSI Navneet Goltekar and a police team went to the Maharashtra and arrested the suspect.
