The poor condition of Goa’s roads has claimed yet another young life.
A 25-year-old architect from Tivim, originally from Sanghvi-Pune, was killed in a self-accident at Cunchelim-Mapusa early on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Sameer Uday Naik, was riding a motorcycle from Siolim towards Cunchelim via Marna around 1 am on September 5.
Near the Cunchelim petrol pump, Naik lost control of his two-wheeler while attempting to avoid potholes.
The motorcycle first collided with a roadside barrier before crashing into a tree with severe impact.
Although Naik was wearing a helmet, his face struck the tree forcefully, resulting in fatal injuries. He was rushed by ambulance to the Mapusa District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Mapusa Police carried out the panchanama at the accident site. Naik worked as an architect at Rio Holiday Homes Resort in Assagao.
