People in North Goa find the route to Belagavi shortest via Chorla and many will be planning trips to Belagavi for purchases ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.
However, a number of potholes have developed on the Goa-Belagavi road at Chorla ghat and there are growing demands to repair the road at the earliest.
Some of the potholes are deep and motorists find it difficult to gauge the depth especially when the potholes are filled with rainwater.
The road between Chorla and Jamboti in Karnataka is the only road in the area which passes through a forest and in the absence of a detour, motorists have no option to avoid the potholes while travelling to and from Belagavi via Chorla.
The State government had hotmixed the road up to the Goa border, but the road has deteriorated towards the Karnataka side.
A number of Goans travel to Belagavi via Chorla on a daily basis for shopping and other purposes, but the growing number of potholes has made the journey arduous and unpleasant.
