After a long wait, the 10 promoted SPs of the Goa Police Service (GPS) cadre were finally given their postings on Friday, ahead of Diwali. Among the other promoted SPs, Maria Monserrate is posted at Wireless with an additional charge of State Police Control Room while Gurudas Gawade is given the charge of Konkan Railway. Nelson Albuquerque is the new Principal of the Police Training School and Sunita Sawant will handle the Economic Offences Cell with an additional charge of Legal & Vigilance. The EOC was previously under SP Nidhin Valsan, who is currently the Crime Branch SP, while Legal & Vigilance was headed by SP Bossuet Silva.
Sucheta Dessai is posted at Training, Dharmesh Angle is given Special Branch and Kiran Poduval is posted at Security with an additional charge of Coastal Police. The State government, on August 29, approved the recommendation of the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) to elevate the 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police including four women officers to SP rank. However, even after over a month, the promoted SPs awaited their postings.
In addition to these, SP Silva is transferred to Traffic, hence relieving PHQ SP Shekhar Prabhudesai of his additional charge.
