Says suitable land identified, process underway

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said preference would be given to Sanguem taluka for the proposed IIT-Goa, adding that authorities have already identified suitable land for the project.
“Verification and documentation are in process and this process will be completed in the near future,” said Sawant.
He was speaking after inaugurating the second edition of the government’s Sarkar Tumchya Dari (Government at your Doorsteps) for Sanguem constituency at Government High School, Netravali.
Sawant said the BJP government is committed to the welfare of people in every constituency and in this regard, government offices are being made available at the doorsteps of the people.
“Unlike other places, where the government’s Sarkar Tumchya Dari is conducted for one day, the programme will be held for two days in Sanguem given its cast geographic area and appealed the people to take maximum benefit of the programme.
Assuring his commitment towards public welfare, Sawant said his government is in the process of formulating new projects to assist people in getting gainful employment.
He appealed to people engaged in agriculture, dairy farming, fishing and other activities to take maximum benefit of government schemes, while also requesting them to take benefit of 121 schemes available online.
In his address, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai requested the chief minister to take up projects on a war footing in Sanguem and also sought some relaxation in the declaration of private forests as a large number of people in Sanguem reside in hilly and other forest areas.
He also sought the immediate release of tenders for the construction of a road to Salgini and Korla village.
He stated that electricity, mobile network, drinking water, educational infrastructure, road network, other infrastructure, forest right issue, issues of the people affected by Salaulim Dam are the major issues confronting people and efforts are being made to resolve them.
On the ocassion, Sawant distributed ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who succumbed to Covid-19, relief for marginal workers and cards to various other beneficiaries.
Sanguem Municipal Council Chairperson, Shweta Naik Tari, Vasudev Meng Gaonkar, South Goa Collector Ruchika Katyal and sarpanchas and panchas of various panchayats were present on the occasion.
As many as 38 departments have set up stalls to facilitate people during the two-day Sarkar Tumchya Dari programme.
