The President Ram Nath Kovind left for Delhi after a two day visit on Sunday but not before he paid a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site Basilica of Bom Jesus Church at the Old Goa church complex and the famed Mangueshi temple at Mardol and met with Justices of the Bombay High Court at Goa.

At the Basilica in Old Goa, the President and his wife were received by the Rector Father Patricio Fernandes who briefed the first couple about its history.

Kovind then proceeded to Mardol where the local MLA and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and IAS officer Anjali Sherawat received him. President of Shree Manguesh Temple Saunstha, Chandrakant Dhume also escorted the President and the dignitaries on the tour of the temple complex.

Mementoes were also presented to the president. The entire route taken by the President’s convoy was sanitized and closed for the public, throwing traffic in turmoil.

In the evening, the President was seen off by Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
