The Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Kashinath Damodar Naik Memorial Trust have continued their joint initiative of the ‘Kashinath Damodar Naik - Pride of Goa – Business Lifetime Achievement Award and Kashinath Damodar Naik - Pride of Goa – Entrepreneur Award’ instituted to honour and celebrate distinguished Goans who, through their dedication, commitment and excellence, have made significant contributions to business and industry within Goa and beyond.
For the year 2025, the following two awardees have been finalised under respective categories: Kashinath Damodar Naik - Pride of Goa – Lifetime Achievement Award for Anju Timblo, Managing Director & CEO, Fomento Resorts and Hotels Pvt Ltd. She is recognised for her outstanding leadership and long-standing contribution to the growth and strengthening of Goa’s hospitality sector.
Anju Timblo is a distinguished academic, having topped India in the Higher Secondary Arts Examination, secured the first rank in Economics at Lady Shri Ram College, and later graduating in Law from Government Law College, Bombay, with two Gold Medals. She began her career teaching Law in Goa before taking on leadership roles in social and community initiatives, including serving as President of the All India Women’s Conference (Goa Branch). She is the founder and president of Fomento Education and Charitable Societies which entails the Goa College of Hospitality & Culinary Education, affiliated to Goa University along with Dona Leonor Memorial High School affiliated to the Goa Board.
Since 1993, she has been the Managing Director & CEO of Fomento Resorts and Hotels Pvt. Ltd. She spearheads the iconic Taj Cidade de Goa – Heritage (1982) and the world-class Taj Cidade de Goa – Horizon (2020), together forming a 500-keys largest luxury hospitality complex in Goa. Araqila, a luxury resort in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra has recently commissioned under her leadership, setting a benchmark and pioneering tourism and hospitality in this region. Timblo has actively promoted Goan art, music, cuisine, and tradition while nurturing generations of hospitality professionals.
The Kashinath Damodar Naik - Pride of Goa – Entrepreneur Award for Sachin Lawande, President & CEO, Visteon Corporation.
Honoured for his exemplary achievements as a global business leader and for bringing international acclaim to Goa through his pioneering work in automotive technology. Taleigao-born Sachin Lawande is one of the few Goans to have made a mark in the global corporate world. Currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Visteon Corporation, Michigan – a Fortune 500 company and one of the world’s leading suppliers of cockpit electronics – Lawande has been at the helm since 2015 and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications from Bombay University and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
The Kashinath Damodar Naik Memorial Trust is a trust set up to honour the memory and legacy of late Kashinath Damodar Naik, well known Margao-based businessman, historian and philanthropist. The formal award ceremony is proposed to be held in December at Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao. Vikram Doctor will grace the occasion as the keynote speaker.
