A group of locals from Cuncoliem-Priol along with panch members on Saturday staged a sit-in protest at Dada Vaidya Chowk-Ponda, demanding action against the development of plots at Cuncoliem.

Veling-Priol-Cuncoliem Sarpanch Damodar Naik, panch Adv Varad Mardolkar, locals Adv Raju Mangueshkar, Govind Gawade, AAP leader Adv Surel Tilve, Rohidas Shirodkar, Priol BJP block president Shivaji Gawade and others were present on the occasion.
They condemned the State government’s failure to act against development of plots in the pristine area of Cuncoliem.
It may be recalled that the Shinkre family owns this property in Cuncoliem in Priol constituency and had demanded police protection to develop the plots, after alleging that some politicians along with locals had been creating hurdles.
Sarpanch Damodar Naik warned that they would intensify their protest if government failed to act on their complaints filed in departments concerned.
“We don’t want illegal works taking place in our village. We will always oppose this development of plots, which is being done illegally,” he said.
On October 12, the Veling Priol Cuncoliem Nagrik Kruti Committee (VPCNKC) had served an ultimatum and had threatened to intensify their agitation by staging a dharna.
