Claiming that many non-Goans bidders were in the list for the re-auction of 54 municipal shops, North Goa Congress President Vijay Bhike on Tuesday demanded an inquiry into the 15-years residence certificate submitted by the non-Goan bidders.
The Congress party has been opposed the re-auction of 54 shops built by GSUDA in the municipal market.
According to sources, 490 people had applied for 54 shops in the municipal market and only 250 people took part in the auction. The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) then put out a list of 108 bidders and the North Goa Congress alleged that most of them are non-Goans.
Speaking to reporters, Bhike alleged that re-auction of municipal shops is a huge scam. "We had demanded cancellation of the re-auction of shops, but it was refused," he added.
