A property dispute in Mirzapur, UP ended up in a vengeance murder in Goa as three brothers allegedly killed their cousin while he was in the State. Four persons have been arrested in this connection.
Later, the brothers along with the brother-in-law of the elder brother disposed off the body of the victim by dumping his body in the river from the Gaundalim bridge.
Giving details about the incident, SP Nidhin Valsan informed that the body was found in Carambolim river on Sunday evening, with ropes tied around the body and a stone attached.
“Accordingly, the body was fished out and sent for post-mortem where it was found that prima-facie it appeared to be a case of murder,” Valsan stated, while adding that a case of murder was registered.
“The police then found out that a case of a missing person was registered at Porvorim and called the person who filed the case. This person turned out to be the brother of the deceased and he identified the body from the tattoo on the hand,” Valsan stated.
Further, Valsan informed that the deceased Chandriraka Sahani (32) hailed from Mirzapur, UP but he often used to come to Goa as he had painting business.
The victim Sahani had a family property in Mirzapur and there was a fight with his cousin brothers over the property.
In that fight, the victim had critically injured the father of his cousins and in this connection, there was a FIR registered against the deceased in Mirzapur, leading to his arrest and subsequent release.
The three cousin brothers of the victim, Rajkumar Prasad, Rajendra Prasad and Ranjit Prasad, had then decided to take revenge.
When the victim came to Goa, the second brother Rajendra allegedly hatched a plan and called the victim to one spot and from there took him to their house at SBI colony, where the victim was assaulted by Rajkumar and Rajendra from 2 pm till evening.
From the torture, the victim became motionless and was presumed dead. Then, the brothers made a plan to dispose the body.
They tied the body with a rope and a stone, took it in a hired car to Gaundalim bridge, where the body was thrown in the river.
The third brother Ranjit acted as a scout to ensure that there was no presence of anybody at the Gaundalim bridge.
“All this happened on August 23. Due to the stone being attached to the body, it stayed down but later the body bloated and started moving up and down. Some people saw the body but didn’t report and it was reported only on Sunday evening when the body had drifted to Dhado in Carambolim,” Valsan stated.
He said Old Goa PI Satish Padwalkar and his team with the help of SDPO Sudesh Naik were able to crack the case after thoroughly investigating the matter.
Old Goa arrested the three accused brothers, Rajkumar Prasad, Rajendra Prasad (prime accused), Ranjit Prasad, and Akhilesh Kumar, brother-in-law of the elder brother, who allegedly helped in disposing off the body.
