Protesters in Canacona demand death penalty for Mehrauli murder accused

Stating Shraddha Walkar’s murder has shaken the conscience of the nation, a group of activists took out a morcha at Chaudi in Canacona on Saturday to demand a death penalty for the murder accused and introduction of laws ban “love-Jihad” and religious conversion in the State.

The protest, Hindu Rashtra-Jagruti Andolan, was held peacefully at the old bus stand. 

Speaking to media, Rajeshri Babu Ghanekar said, “we have gathered to protest against the incident that took place on November 15. Shraddha Walkar, was murdered by one Aftab Poonawala who allegedly cut her into 35 pieces...Not a single Hindu women in future should fall a prey like Walkar, thr government should hang the murderer to death as early as possible.”

A Hindu Janjagruthi activist, Shoba Sawal stated that several young girls have fallen prey to “love-Jihad” in the country.

She claimed that “love-Jihad” is funded by others as part of a larger conspiracy.
