PORVORIM

The PWD demolished a wall of Customs Colony as part of road-widening work in Porvorim.

Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte resumed development works as soon as election code of conduct had ended in the State.

On Tuesday, the PWD demolished the wall of Customs Colony for the purpose of road-widening work and the demolition was supervised by Khaunte and panch members Sham Kamat, Gurudas Vernekar, Shalu Gupta and PWD officials.

Later speaking to reporters, Khaunte said there has been a substantial rise in population and vehicles at Porvorim during the last 10 years.

“Widening of internal roads is, therefore, of utmost importance for the smooth movement of traffic. Wherever possible, internal roads are being widened after taking residents into confidence. Support and cooperation of residents is vital to promote all round development of Porvorim,” said the minister.

Commenting on other projects in his constituency, Khaunte said the Science and Art Parks are on the verge of completion.

The Socorro Multipurpose Sports complex as well as the new market project in Porvorim will be completed shortly. Construction of a fire station building and water treatment plant is in full swing, while the foundation stone for the Revenue Bhavan will be laid shortly.”

“Once all these projects are completed, Porvorim will become an ideal constituency,” said Khaunte.
