Continuing to exert pressure to hasten the start of work on the accident-prone NH66 section of Karmalghat, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has directed the Secretary (PWD) to expedite the matter.
Tawadkar convened a meeting with the Secretary (PWD) along with PWD Executive Engineer and other officials at his chamber in the Secretariat on Thursday to discuss the Karmalghat road-widening issue.
The Speaker directed the secretary and PWD officials to take up work on a war footing in order to complete the four-lane highway at the earliest.
He also directed them to convene a meeting with the forest officials to resolve the issue of obtaining a NOC to cut forest trees in the acquired area.
The speaker is believed to have further directed the PWD executive engineer to take immediate action to widen narrow roads where accidents have been taking place.
The officials reportedly assured to take up the works immediately.
