CANACONA
Alleging fraud and manipulation in the tendering of 14 works by the Shristhal panchayat, a resident has petitioned different authorities to stop the misuse of public funds.
In his complaint, Pratap Shanta Tupaki of Shristhal has demanded immediate site inspection and inquiry into the 14 works tendered by the Shristhal panchayat.
Tupaki claimed that the Shristhal panchayat published 14 sealed percentage rate tenders in December 2021, adding that six of these works had already existed and bills for the same will be raised and also paid for the already existing works.
Tupaki alleged that some of these works were already in existence and in good condition even before the opening of the tenders to take up those works.
He identified the works as the construction of a gutter at Mokhard, repair of two drinking water wells at Khalwadem and Mokhard and repair of three roads, including two existing roads at Paricatta.
Tupaki also alleged that work was tendered for the repair of an existing road from NH66 road to a house at Mokhard when in reality there is no such road at all.
Pratap further alleged that one Pavan S Tubki had already complained well before the opening of the tenders in April, stating that the tendering itself was a big scam and misappropriation of funds without following rules and procedures.
Pratap has demanded immediate action to stop tenders before completing the billing process and also to conduct a detailed inquiry to stop malpractices and also stop misuse of funds from the government treasury.
Copies of the complaint have been submitted to the Director of Panchayats, Director of Vigilance, Secretary (Vigilance), Deputy Director of Panchayats (Margao) and the BDO of Canacona.
