Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has said the PWD has submitted a proposal to the State government to dig new wells and bore wells with nanofiltration plants at Nerul and Reis Magos to ensure continuous water supply to these areas.
Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar was interacting with PWD officials to brief them on the water problem being faced by residents of Reis Magos and Nerul.
Salgaonkar told reporters that a group of residents from the two villages had met him and complained about the water problems.
The residents claimed that they have been receiving water every alternate day but since the four days, had not received any water and had been forced to hire water tankers at exorbitant rates.
Salgaonkar said he had had fruitful discussions with the chief engineer of PWD Chief Engineer Santosh Mhapne and other engineers.
“The chief engineer said Reis Magos and Nerul are located at the tail end and as a result, water does not reach these villages with the required pressure. The chief engineer has directed his staff to flush existing bore wells, filter water and supply it to affected residents.”
“The PWD has submitted a proposal to the State government to dig new wells/bore wells with nanofiltration plants at Nerul and Reis Magos to ensure continuous water supply to these areas.”
“The assistant engineer has been asked to keep a vigil on the flow of water supplied from the main pipelines of Assonora water treatment plant,” said Salgaonkar.
