PONDA
The workers engaged under PWD’s Labour Supply Society on Sunday morning called upon Minister for PWD Sudin Dhavalikar and demanded that they be regularised before code of conduct of election comes into force.
Many workers, who claimed that they are working for the past fifteen years, gathered at Dhavalikar’s residence at Mahalaxmi-Bandora.
According to an employee Pradip Naik, their demand was pending since last many years and waiting for cabinet nod.
“File pertaining to our regularisation was pending before PWD minister, which is now sent to chief minister. We request him (CM) to regularise us before code of conduct comes into force,” Naik said.
Naik informed that around 1,200 workers are seeking regularisation. “It is for them to regularise us by taking cabinet decision. We request them to absorb us,” he said.
A heavy police force was deployed at Bandora.
