CURCHOREM
This decision was taken at a special meeting of QMC, after chairperson Raul Pereira said no other waste management agency had come forward to take up the
contract.
The QMC had floated a tender to appoint a new solid waste management agency to manage and treat
solid waste from Quepem municipality.
The existing Mumbai-based waste management agency had already been three months extension by the council in the recent past.
Speaking to The Goan, QMC Chairperson Raul Pereira said the Mumbai-based solid waste management agency, which manages collection, segregation and treatment of solid waste, had been given an extension by QMC for
six months.
“The agency’s contract had ended in March, but the council extended its contract as no other waste management agency came forward to accept the contract when the tender was floated,” said Pereira.
Asked what QMC would do after the extension of contract, Pereira replied: “The QNC may further renew the contract for another term.”
