Dean of Goa Medical College Dr Shivanand Bandekar on Friday said the patient who had been quarantined on suspicion of having the coronavirus has been discharged as the test results had come negative.
The news comes as no big surprise, as there is just one confirmed case of coronavirus in the entire country, detected in Kerala.
However, the govt had thought it fit to leave no stone unturned to prove to the people that they indeed had a grip on things, and rushed to address the press on Wednesday after making sure the patient, a tourist who had arrived from China, had been quarantined at the GMC. The tourist had complained of a sore throat.
Meanwhile, the lack of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has not stopped Goans from panicking about the illness after seeing numerous media reports, with ‘The Goan’ learning that people have even re-scheduled their travel plans out of fear of the dreaded virus.
