Quepem AAP hits out at PWD, QMC, contractor

QUEPEM: AAP Quepem coordinator Patricia Fernandes expressed her anger over the use of substandard material for the construction and also blamed the PWD for failing to take immediate action in the matter.

“The portion of the supporting wall of the bridge needs urgent attention and if PWD officials shut their eyes and allow substandard construction work than AAP will not hesitate to stop the work along with the villagers,” said Fernandes.

“I have received information from reliable sources that some councillors of Quepem Municipal Council want the work completed at the earliest and are not concerned if the contractor used substandard material for construction,” she added.

Asked about non-availability of sand, Fernandes replied: “The contractor was fully aware of the sand issue when he took up the project. If he claims to have over 20 truckloads of sand stored at his residence, there should be no sympathy to him for using substandard material for the construction.”
