Even as the men-in-uniform went about the job of detaining members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) from across Goa, questions were raised in official circles over the delay by the police to produce them before the magistrates.

Questions were further raised in official circles over the quantum of personal bond that ought to be obtained from the detained PFI members. Reliable sources pointed out that some of the top officials were in favour of asking the arrested members to execute huge personal bonds running into thousands of rupees.

While the State unit  president of the banned PFI was ordered to be released on personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties, sources in the know pointed out that senior officials were in favour of  obtaining personal bonds of more than Rs 50,000 from each of the arrested PFI members.
