Quitting leadership will be ‘2nd liberation’: Luizinho

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Luizinho Faleiro has said that it would mean a “second liberation” for him if the Congress high command agrees to accept his resignation and relieve him from the post.

MARGAOrrStating that he would not take back his resignation come what may, Faleiro said he is not keen to take up any major position in the party and would like to serve the people of Navelim for the next five years. r“I would not only feel liberated, but acceptance of my resignation would mean for me a second liberation”, Faleiro told The Goan on the sidelines of a programme held at Navelim on prevention of vector borne diseases. r“I had made a sacrifice by coming down to Goa when I was holding charge of the North Eastern states as the AICC general secretary. That’s not all. I was the in-charge of a state where the Congress had as many as five Chief Ministers. All this I had to sacrifice when the Party high command comprising of Congress president, Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi asked me to go back to Goa and take over the reigns and revive the party”, he said. rWhen The Goan asked him whether he would return to Delhi to take up any job assigned by the party, Faleiro said he would like to devote his time and energy for the people of Navelim for the next five years. “I will tell the party leadership to spare me so that I concentrate on my job in Navelim. The people of Navelim have high hopes and I would like to give them my time and energy”, he said. rReplying to a query, Faleiro said he has been lying low ever since he dashed off his second resignation letter to the party high command last month. “I have made it clear that I will only guide my party leaders in the functioning of the organization. I have decided to lie low since the time I had submitted my resignation to the party leadership”, he said. rSources in the know said that Faleiro’s resignation will be taken up by the high command after the return of Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the national capital in a day or two. rMeanwhile, addressing a programme at the Navelim Panchayat ghar on Monday morning on vector borne diseases, Faleiro called upon the authorities to ensure that builders obtain health cards for the migrant labourers to keep malaria at bay.
