The Guirdolim gram sabha on Sunday discussed the railway expansion plans submitted by the Indian Railways and resolved to rope in a technical expert to understand the plan before fixing a joint inspection with the railway officials.
The meeting chaired by Deputy Sarpanch Brian Pereira placed the railway expansion plan submitted by the Indian Railways before the gram sabha for discussion and deliberation. Members, however, pointed out that the plan needs to be studied in detail before going for a joint inspection with the Railways.
After the meeting, Brian informed that the railway expansion plan will be placed before the Village Development Committee, adding that the panchayat will engage an expert to understand the plan before taking a decision. “We will call for a technical expert to explain the villagers in details over the railway expansion plan. Since the Railways has executed work in and around the railway station, a joint inspection will be held along with the railway officials and villagers,” he said.
The meeting also discussed the issue of football ground and the MRF plant in the village.
The deputy sarpanch informed that the MRF plant was discussed at the meeting since the panchayat will be forced to return the funds to the government if the MRF facility is not put in place before the end of the financial year. “During discussions, the gram sabha members gave the go-ahead signal to the panchayat to set up the MRF facility in the village,” he added.
