Margao city and the outskirts was lashed by heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning on Friday night,
inundating several low-lying areas of the commercial
capital.
The Margao Municipal Council square was flooded with the rain water and so were several other roads, including the old station road and parts of Aquem.
Incessant heavy showers for over two hours gave the people respite and relief from the sultry heat, but the roads were inundated with rain water for some time, before the water started receding late in the night.
The fire brigade said that no major untoward incident was reported during the two hour long showers.
