Ration supplies to be provided at lower rates: Shet

BICHOLIM

Describing the National Food Security Act as one of the best schemes for the welfare of poor and downtrodden segments of community, Deputy Speaker Anant Shet said ration supplies would be provided at meagre rates.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Food Security and Safety scheme at Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) hall on Tuesday, Shet asked officials to simplify the scheme by excluding unwanted requirements.

Sakhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant said it was necessary to implement the scheme in Goa for the benefit of all sections of society, even though the financial condition of the State is better than other states.

Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, ration card holders from Bicholim, Sakhali and Mayem were distributed ration quota under the scheme.

ZP member Sanjay Shetye, BMC Chairperson Satish Gaonkar, Director of Civil Supplies Vikas Gaunekar, Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar, Mamlatdar Gurudas Desai, Joint Mamlatdar Shripad Majik, Isha Sawant, Bicholim BDO Srikant Pednekar were among others present on the occasion.

Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar delivered the welcome address, while Kashinath Naik later proposed the vote of thanks.
