The stolen ATM machine of Ratnakar Bank was finally recovered on late Sunday night from under a flyover at Padribhat, Sao Jose de Areal, but sans money amounting to Rs 7.62 lakh.

A team of Margao Police headed by PI Kapil Nayak rushed to Padribhat late last night following information that the ATM machine was lying abandoned under the flyover. He, however, said the ATM machine was found in a damaged condition, with the cash missing, indicating that the burglars abandoned the ATM after removing the cash.

He said forensic experts were called to assist in the investigation. The ATM machine was later transported to the Margao police station.

The Margao police station in-charge said the police has commenced investigations into the case, exuding confidence that the police would achieve a breakthrough in the sensational case.

Unknown burglars had decamped with the ATM machine housed in a booth at Aquem Baixo, containing an amount of Rs 7.62 lakh. At the time of the incident, the ATM booth was not manned by security personnel and the culprits lifted away the machine after tampering with the CCTV camera.
