Residents of Ratwaddo-Navelim have once again reiterated their demand for the scrapping of the proposed housing project in their locality.
The residents, accompanied by social worker Valanka Alemao, gathered on the narrow road leading to the project site along with a private surveyor to establish that the approach road does not meet the required six-metre width.
Speaking to the media at the site, Alemao said residents of Ratwaddo have been waging a sustained battle against the housing project. She pointed out that the project is proposed in a low-lying area, and there’s also no six-metre-wide road providing access to the property.
Alemao said the residents had engaged a private surveyor to verify their contention regarding the width of the approach road. “The survey has confirmed the stand of the local residents that the road in question is not six metres wide. The width varies along the narrow stretch, but nowhere is the road six metres wide,” she said.
Alemao said the residents would continue their fight until they received justice from the authorities.
