Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday evening said the Congress in Goa has a very bleak future ahead and would soon be left with only one MLA, with all other MLAs joining the BJP.
Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the first annual Mahila cultural and sports auditions at Zuarinagar, Godinho also said the induction of former chief minister Ravi Naik into the BJP was a slap on the face of some political parties claiming to have a support of the Bahujan Samaj in Goa.
"I had been very vocal before leaving the Congress years ago and I had not ditched them. I met Sonia Gandhi and told her that I was leaving the congress and they had lost me forever. Congress has a crab mentality and they had blocked my development works and after I joined the BJP, most of my big development works were cleared and I got a push from the BJP after recognising my talent.”
“While many politicians viewed my decision as political suicide, so many leaders are today joining the BJP and many more leaders from Congress are on the way to BJP,” said Godinho.
Godinho said the BJP had worked for the people and development works were visible, leaving no doubt that people would elect the BJP again.
"We have seen that the former CM and Congress MLA Ravi Naik joined the BJP. There were parties claiming that they had the Bahujan Samaj while BJP had no one. Ravi Naik is one of the biggest leaders of the Bahujan Samaj and he has extended his support to the BJP and this is a slap to those parties.”
“People are rejecting Congress because they are diminishing in the State and Centre as well because people cannot accept any party which is promoting only one family. We will soon see that they could have only one MLA left from the present three MLAs in the State," said Godinho.
