Recognise leader, Sesa mining union members tell company

About 400 workers of Sesa Goa Mining Corporation Employees Union (SGMCEU) on Tuesday protested inside the main gate of Sesa Goa Bicholim Mines in protest against the mining company’s reported failure to fulfill their demand of recognising their union leader Adv Ajeetsingh Rane.

“About 400 workers had gathered inside the company gate and shouted slogans demanding recognition of Adv Rane as leader of their newly formed trade union.
They also protested against ‘hire and fire policy’ adopted by Sesa Goa Company, leading to suspension of
the workers,” informed SGMCEU general secretary Balakhan Gori.
Gori further said they have put forward their only demand with the company and that is to recognise Adv Rane as leader of their trade union, but the company is neglecting their demand since the formation of their trade union.
“If the demands of workers are not solved, we will not allow the company to carry out its activities. We have started the protest on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra,”
said Gori.
