Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to appoint some experts from Nirmala Institute on the panel of counselling for the desired effect on students in choosing the right career.
In a letter, the Curtorim MLA informed the Chief Minister that teachers are not trained for career counselling as it is a much specialised field.
“It will be completely wrong to assume by Department of Education that after finalising the scheme for counselling it can be imparted to students virtually by the teachers, despite these teachers have been guided on how to conduct the said session. You should take a leaf out from the good work being done in the field of Career Counselling since 2010 by Atmashodha Counselling Cell of Nirmala Institute of Education, Panaji”, he urged the Chief Minister.
He requested the Chief Minister to take professional help on career counselling as Nirmala Institute of Education has the expertise and experience to train teachers of Class X and XII since they are in this field of counselling for around two decades.
