Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has urged the Chief Minister to enhance the State’s financial and social welfare schemes following the incident of a man who allegedly tried to bury his bedridden wife.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Health Minister and Social Welfare Minister, Reginaldo said there’s a dire need to enhance all State’s financial and social welfare schemes like Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana, Griha Aadhar Scheme, Dayanand Social Security Scheme, etc in the wake of the Narvem shocker news in which hubby buries alive his ailing wife.
“I have been raising another very important concern connected with Laadli Laxmi Scheme which has now become a prisoner of new discriminatory condition set up by the Department of Women and Child Welfare that income of parents to be restricted to Rs 8 lakh. The introduction of income slab defeats the very soul of Laadli Laxmi Scheme,” he added.
Similarly, he said the Department of Women and Child Welfare without any notification or any other document nor any public awareness is creating problem to the beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar Scheme which was introduced in the year 2013 by orally stating to produce income certificate for renewal of the scheme.
“There should be a broad coverage of all the financial and social welfare schemes of the State government so that it reaches to the poorest of the poor Goemkars. In the stressed out life of the 21st century, there is a demand for the State government for making available the full-time services of clinical psychologist free of cost in all such departments where the above financial and welfare schemes are availed,” he stated in his letter.
