Delegate registration for the 48th International Film Festival of India has been opened on the official festival website. This year, over 8,000 delegates are expected to be registered for the festival.
Speaking to The Goan Everyday, Entertainment Society of Goa Vice-Chairman Rajendra Talak said, "This year, we expect at least 8,000 delegates to register for the festival, but the number may even go up to 10,000. We also expect between 300 and 500 delegates from foreign countries to attend the festival."
"By mid-October, we should be able to get a clear picture on the inaugural and closing ceremonies too," he said.
Those willing to register as delegates can log on to www.iffigoa.org and register by paying a fee of Rs 1,000.
The 48th edition of IFFI, scheduled to be held from November 20 to 28 this year, is being led by a Steering Committee comprising Jahnu Barua, Nagesh Kukunoor, Shoojit Sircar, Shaji N Karun, Anand Gandhi, Piyush Pandey, Prasoon Joshi, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Vani Tripathi Tikoo, Meren Imchen, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, Bharat Bala and Director, NFDC. In order to enhance the involvement of the Indian film industry, a 40-member Film Preview Committee has also been set up comprising industry professionals from across the country. The members include filmmakers including Vivek Agnihotri, Nitesh Tiwari, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Bhaskar Hazarika, actors Gautami Tadimalla, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Pallavi Joshi, noted critics and writers Khalid Mohammed, Saibal Chatterjee and Bhawana Somaaya, among others.
The festival will showcase the best of recent international cinema, along with special sections such as Retrospectives, BRICS Award-Winning films, Homages and an Indian Panorama Section featuring the best of Indian Cinema produced in the past year, with an aim of providing a platform for young creative minds to interact, view and learn.
Additionally, there will be Masterclasses by eminent film practitioners and panel discussions featuring a diverse range of distinguished personalities discussing topics of interest for film enthusiasts.
The festival also announced that the delegate registrations for film institute students will be at no cost.
