There’s good news in store for citizens from Salcete and outside visiting the government offices in the Osia Commercial Complex, Old Market, Margao.
For, there’s finally a ray of hope that the defunct lifts may be soon put in order for the benefit of the visitors.
In fact, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has announced at the weekly Darbar held at the South Goa Collectorate that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed the RTO officials, functioning from the Osia commercial complex, to install the second lift in the building.
Sequeira said the TCP and SGPDA have agreed to install the first lift in the Osia commercial complex. The second lift will be installed by the RTO and the Transport department will bear the cost of the lift and its installation,” Sequeira told the media.
He said the installation of the two lifts in the Osia Commercial Complex will give relief to citizens visiting the government offices, including the RTO, TCP, SGPDA, Sales and Commercial Taxes, District Registrar, etc. “People of Salcete have been facing hardships for want of lift in the multi-storeyed building. I had taken up the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who was kind enough to direct the RTO, Margao to procure a second lift for the building,” he added.
He said the district Collector, South has notified the yellow black two-wheeler pilot stand at the Margao KTC bus stand, which should resolve the long pending issue.
He said the ISL football match scheduled the Nehru stadium, Fatorda will be held as scheduled on March 4.
Delegations from different villages, including Benaulim, Loutolim, Nuvem, Raia came up with their respective issues for redressal.
