Residents of Robinson Residency in Baina are likely to file a police complaint in regards to the recent incident wherein a Bank of India ATM machine based below the building was engulfed in fire.

According to residents, though the fire department may have informed that the ATM had engulfed in fire due to a short circuit, the residents feel that there is more to it. Residents feel that this may be the handiwork of robbers or may be a scam of insurance.

Residents claim that two people with burn injuries frequent the ATM suspiciously at late night and try to remove something from within the burnt premises and residents suspect that the two people are attempting to remove the hard disk drive of the CCTV camera.

Residents say that they have seen the duo continuously for the last two nights near the ATM. Residents also alleged that fuel from bikes was robbed the following night after the ATM was gutted in fire. Residents who met the police were informed that the hard disk of CCTV cannot be taken for investigation till a formal complaint is made to the police.

A resident Ismail Shaikh said that the CCTV hard disk was not removed as yet nor did the bank take stringent action and the place is still open

“The electrical wires of the building are strong for the last 20 years. There is no scope for short circuit in a premises whose wiring has been done three years ago. Surprisingly the burnt ATM centre machine is still open and the bank has not taken the hard disk of the CCTV and not even approached the residents for enquiry. We have seen two people for last two nights who run the moment we start coming down. The suspects are well versed in English as we have overheard their conversation from the first floor. Since police is saying they need a complain to investigate further, we will file one. Residents are living in fear for the last two days,” said Shaikh

It may be recalled that an ATM belonging to the Bank of India based below Robinson building at Baina opposite Taiba Masjid had caught fire at around 1.45 am on Monday and 3 vehicles (one scooter, one motorbike and one Maruti Omni Car) were also gutted.

This question assumes significance and comes in the backdrop of the commissioning of two state-of-the-art sewerage plants at Sirvodem a year ago which…
